With the rush to reserve iPads last week, the group here at Pyxis Mobile was curious as to what others thought about the iPad and whether they planned on purchasing one. We all share very different opinions about not only whether we’d purchase one or not but also what their best use would be…and our 3 question mini-survey was born:
1. Are you going to buy an iPad?
2. If yes, which iPad are you going to buy?
3. What will be the main use(s) of your iPad?
Much to the surprise of many people here at Pyxis Mobile, here were the results to whether or not people had an interest in buying an iPad:
A whopping 51% of people who responded said they have no interest in the iPad!! And trailing behind that with the second largest percentage (19.2%) were the people who want one, but plan on waiting to buy it. Only 12.5% were psyched about buying one and have probably already reserved theirs at the Apple store.
After seeing the lack of interest in the iPad that Question 1 revealed, we were interested to what the people who are planning on purchasing one intend to buy. Apple is offering 3 different size WiFi iPads and 3 different size 3G iPads.
Our survey put the 32GB WiFi iPad in top position. Compare our results to those found on MacRumors.com. While our results are similar, our audience prefers larger memory.
Since I'm not really sure I understand what people would want to use it for, my biggest question was about the main uses for the iPad. This is what our results showed:
You can clearly see that Leisure is largest selection for use. Followed by E-book Reader and Business, which is a bit surprising. A few weeks ago when I asked Pyxis Mobile CTO Todd Christy about the iPad, he mentioned many different uses that you can read about here.
As I mentioned before,
I was on the “What do I need a glorified iPod Touch for?” team also until I saw…wait
for it… The DIAMOND ENCRUSTED iPAD!!!
Mervis Diamond Importers (clearly known for two things: their diamonds and their jewelry) decided to add to their repertoire a diamond studded iPad (that blew me away!). While this luxury item comes at a pretty penny of $19,999, I can’t help but imagine myself sitting there, playing with an iPad that costs more than my car. So, for those of you who have an extra $20 grand, I will be taking donations so that I can get one of these blinged-out iPads (kidding!). Which celebrity do you think we’ll see with one first?
